On Aug 14, 2020, I stopped in Davenport during a peaceful drive south in search of ocean bioluminescence. I didn't find any, but I did set up a tripod at the cliffs overlooking Davenport Pier. It was a strikingly-clear, moonless night--rare, for the coastline here in California. The Milky Way was a wide swath of dust splashing into the horizon.

This area, north of Santa Cruz, was evacuated on August 19, 2020, due to a massive, 0%-contained wildfire in Big Basin.
